APNG-ho3 Honolulu APNG General Meeting Minutes

Venue: Sheraton Waikiki Hotel, Honolulu, USA
1. Opening
The APNG meeting was convened at 9:00 on 1995.6.30 at Sheraton Waikiki Hotel
in Honolulu, USA. See Appendix B for the participant list, and Appendix A
for the agenda. Over 100 people participated the general meeting. The minutes
of the Beijing APNG Meeting was approved.
The following working group meetings were held in the next day;

apng-internationalization/localization
The following BoF session was held in 27 June;
BoF-china
2. Election
Professor Haruhisa Ishida of Tokyo University, Japan was elected as the next
APNG Chair through the email ballot, and was approved at the meeting. His
term is for two years starting 1995.7.1.
3. Working Groups
The reports from the following working groups were made;

apng-education
apng-internationalization/localization
See the working group meeting minutes for further information. apng-develop
did not make the report this time.
4. BoF
The reports from the following BoF were made;

BoF-map
BoF-china was attended by over 40 people from various countries, and the
working group, apng-china was proposed and accepted with the following officers;

5. Reports
(1) Internet Society
Haruhisa Ishida presented on Internet Society activities including Internet
Society regional and national chapters.
The next INET will be held as follows;

(2) CCIRN
Kilnam Chon presented on the CCIRN Meeting of the previous weekend. The
meeting was attended by the following members from APNG;

Huk Jaim Lim
Delegates from Africa and Latin America were invited to the CCIRN Meeting
for the first time, and much time was spent on reports from these two
continents.
The next CCIRN meeting will be held on 1996.6.29, Saturday in Montreal.
(3) APNG Secretariat
APNG Secretariat will be moved to University of Tokyo with Prof. Nakayama
as the new apng-sec. All address will remain same;

(4) APNIC
APNIC Meeting will be held in 1995.7.1-2, immediately after apng-commercial
meeting in the morning of 1995.7.1.
(5) Country/Regional/Network Reports
The following countries made the country reports;
China
Hong Kong

Korea

New Zealand
Singapore
Taiwan
Sprint
Singnet(STIX) and Sprint made the reports on leased line link plans to
the following countries in Asia;
Singnet: Bengladesh, Brunei, Nepal, and Pakistan
(in addition to Vietnam, Philippines, Australia, Indonesia,
Sri Lanka)
Sprint: Cambodia, Laos, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam
(6) Project Report
Carl Malamud made the presentation on 1996 Internet World Exposition. The
following countries made commitment to participate the Exposition at this
moment;
Japan, Korea, Thailand, Singapore, India
USA, Canada

(7) Topics
IETF BoF on International Implication of NAP Architecture, held in San Jose
last December was presented briefly. Impact of NSFNet phaseout turned out
to be minimal.
G7 GII Project and APEC APII Project were presented briefly. There will be
more detail presentation at the next APNG Meeting.
